The Adventures in Harmony Part  (Out of  Scale Harmony)  - Advanced Voicings The Tritone and beyond.

This combined with our Volume on Advanced voicings for melody harmonization  is the ultimate in out of scale Harmonization. You will now be able to harmonize on tones that are not part of the major scale, the bII, bIII, bV (Tritone) and the #V!! The most beautiful passing chord transitions and harmonies occur when you start playing chords that are outside of the scale. We have demonstrated this sound in one of our videos.

For example if you are in the key of Db we show you that you can play a D chord, and E chord, a G Chord on an A chord.... even though those tones are not part of the scale..but if you voice those chords with the right accidentals, the resulting sounds are sweet. Using the technique in Volume III will definitely have you playing some out of scale harmonies, but this Volume closes the loop and adds another 55 voicings. You can always use these out of scale harmonies as passing chords.

In this Volume

  • Reference Volume to harmonize on out of scale tones.
  • Harmonize on the bII
  • Harmonize of the II
  • Harmonize on the -III
  • Harmonize of the bV (Tritone)
  • Harmonize on the +V
